Beschreibung

HSP70 ist ein 70 kDa Hitzeschockprotein. Es verhindert in Verbindung mit anderen Hitzeschockproteinen die Aggregation anderer Proteine und vermittelt die Faltung neuer Proteine während der Synthese. Die Expression von HSP70-Proteinen nimmt zu, wenn sie Stressfaktoren wie Temperaturschock, Hypoxie, oxidativem Stress und pH-Veränderungen ausgesetzt sind. Tumorzellen können diesen Mechanismus nutzen, um sich einen Überlebensvorteil zu verschaffen, wie die Überexpression von HSP70 in hepatozellulärem Karzinom zeigt.
