Beschreibung

Keratine sind zytoplasmatische Intermediärfilamentproteine, die von Epithelzellen exprimiert werden. Cytokeratin 20 ist ein Typ-I-Keratin, das hauptsächlich in der Magen- und Darmschleimhaut vorkommt. Der Antikörper gegen CK20 ist nützlich für die Identifizierung von Epithelzellen dieser Gewebe unter normalen, hyperplastischen und neoplastischen Bedingungen. Es ist bekannt, dass CK20 eine Reihe von Adenokarzinomen nachweisen kann, die aus Epithelien entstehen, z. B. kolorektale Karzinome, Übergangszell- und Merkelzellkarzinome, Magen- und Pankreastumore. Brustkarzinome sind im Allgemeinen nicht reaktiv. CK20 wird häufig in einem Panel mit dem Antikörper Cytokeratin 7 verwendet.
